Step Up

Step By Step Guide:

  1. Can be done using dumbbells, weighted vest or barbell.

  2. Place one foot completely on the box or platform being used. Slightly push your body weight over the platform used to put more of your weight on that leg on the platform.

  3. Drive through your foot to step all the way up tall and control your body back to that starting position.

Helpful Cues:

  1. Start with a low box and just body weight. Step-ups can be very challenging when performed correctly.

Common Mistakes:

  1. Pushing up with the leg on the ground. You should be trying to push yourself up on the box using only the foot that’s on the box. Don’t cheat by assisting with the leg that’s on the ground!

  2. When you finish your set, make sure you drop back to the ground in your starting position versus dropping to the other side of the box!
