Client of the Month – June 2026: Werner & Ana Hernandez
This month's Client of the Month is a little different—and a very special one.
Werner has been part of this journey longer than just about anyone. In fact, he was training with Coach Dan before Become Better even existed.
Back in 2013, Werner was a senior on the Bethel Park High School volleyball team when Coach Dan first moved to Pittsburgh. That team became Dan's very first group of clients in the area. Even though Werner was getting ready to head off to college the following summer, he still made time to be part of Dan's very first summer weightlifting program for volleyball players.
After college, Werner was away for a few years, but when he returned home, he came back to the gym—and he's been a part of the Become Better family ever since.
Over the years, Werner has always stayed committed to training. Sometimes his focus has been building strength, sometimes dropping a few pounds, and sometimes simply staying healthy and managing old injuries. No matter the goal, he's always shown up and put in the work.
A couple of years ago, he convinced his wife, Ana, to join the gym as well. While Ana was pregnant she continued to workout all the way up until the last few weeks before giving birth.
In June, Werner and Ana welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Freya, into the world, and we couldn't be happier for them.
For Coach Dan, this one is especially meaningful. Freya is the first baby born to someone who was once one of his teenage athletes—a reminder of just how much time has passed and how incredible it is to watch people grow through different stages of life. Seeing former high school athletes become husbands, wives, and now parents is something that's hard to put into words.
Werner and Ana, congratulations on your growing family. We're so excited for this new chapter in your lives, and we can't wait to meet Freya—and, of course, we fully expect to see her hanging around the gym before too long.

Bonus: The photo below was taken in the Summer of 2014 after Werner was punished for putting a spider on to Jess Hanson. He had to push the sled down and back, then do a bunch of push-ups while I added another 45 lb plate to the sled for him to repeat. This is a story we often tell at the gym….
