Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Jump Heights 2022-2023

* A couple notes:
Average increase was just under 1.5 inches for both a standing jump and the approach
This was slightly lower than last year which largely makes sense because initial improvements are always largest when first starting a training program
Those of you who originally tested at my main facility in Bethel Park almost all saw no increase or even some of you went down slightly. Here are a couple possible reasons why:
Our flooring was made with jumping in mind and is likely a little more springy
Many of you didn’t wear the same shoes. A lot of you wear heavier volleyball (mostly basketball) shoes compared to general training shoes which will affect some jumping stats.
Our vertec is probably just a little off in comparison. Ideally everyone would test under the same conditions with the same equipment, but obviously this wasn’t able to be done for everyone.
There are many other factors that can influence your jump heights.
Obviously if you’re injured or just coming off of an injury you can expect to see lower results.
If you had a tough practice or just had a big tournament you could likely be fatigued.
Those of you who train regularly already likely also saw less improvement because you likely came into the season already in pretty good jumping shape.
We didn’t have time to get reach heights so you don’t have an actual “vertical.” If you would like these numbers you can simply use the tape measure at Pitt Elite to find your reach height. Then just subtract that from the results you see here. You can also send me the reach height and I will plug it in to the spreadsheet. I recommend asking your coach to help you.
Not having reach heights also means if you grew substantially in the last 4 months your numbers may be inflated slightly
